Fattoria Il Palagio

Welcome to
Fattoria il Palagio

The estate owned by Marquis Matteucci was purchased in 1979 by the Zonin family, who transformed it from its original production, focused predominantly on cereal-olive crops, to the wine and olive sector. Fattoria il Palagio, now owned by Gaetano Zonin, overlooks a typical Tuscan hill in Castel San Gimignano, in the Val d’Elsa of the province of Siena, in the municipality of Colle di Val d’Elsa, with a small part in the municipality of San Gimignano. The location is in the heart of central Tuscany, an area that has left a deep mark on the history of Italian art and culture.

At an altitude of 350 metres above sea level, the estate occupies an area of approximately 315 hectares, almost 83 of which are planted with vines and 10 with olive trees. The soil, consisting mainly of clay and yellow sands, has a good structure and water retention capacity, which is especially valuable in summer when the weather is dry. In addition to Vernaccia, the well-known Chianti DOCG, Vermentino IGT, Rosato IGT, Rosso di Toscana, Chardonnay and Sauvignon are also produced. Rich in history and bathed in tranquillity, it overlooks San Gimignano, just 12 km away.
